What is Child Dedication, and why should I dedicate my child?
The biblical footing for dedicating a child can be found in 1 Samuel 1:27-28, where a godly woman named Hannah prayed for years for God to give her a child. He answered her prayers and was given a son, whom she named Samuel. After Samuel was born, Hannah prayed and it was awesome!. She said, “I asked the LORD to give me this boy, and he has granted my request. Now I am giving him to the LORD, and he will belong to the LORD his whole life.”
At Rose Drive Friends Church, child dedications are a time for parents, just like Hannah, to commit to raising their child God’s way. Child dedications are a joint expression for parents to embrace their responsibility given them by God and to catch a vision of the impact they can make in their child’s life… and our commitment as a children’s ministry to equip parents in that calling.
We make each dedication unique and special by encouraging the whole family to get involved and have some coffee and desserts before the service, some fun, offering family pictures, and hopefully making even the burliest of dads cry. This is an event we want you to never forget.
Child dedications are scheduled twice each year. A parent’s class, held before the dedication service, is necessary for those who have not previously attended the class here.
Our next child dedication will take place on: Sunday, October 7th, during the 10:30AM worship service.
The mandatory Child Dedication class will be held on Sunday, September 30th in the Nursery entryway, at 11:45AM (immediately following 2nd service). Childcare will be available for this class.
On October 7th, there will be a small reception for your family. Breakfast foods and drinks will be served in Room C113 prior to the dedication, from 9:45-10:15AM.
If you are interested in dedicating your child, please register HERE by Sept. 30th.
