Child Dedication

What is it? And why should I dedicate my child?
Child dedication is an outward sign of the intentions of a parent’s heart regarding the spiritual training of their child. It is an opportunity to join with our church family, making a public declaration of our faith in Christ and of our need for “divine” help to raise our children. It is an anchor point in our child’s faith and family history, something that parents can refer back to as significant in the child’s faith journey. It is a way to be held accountable between God and others in the body of Christ to use the many ministries offered at the church to assist in the spiritual nurture of our children. And finally, it is a parent’s opportunity to rededicate themselves to Christ. It is for any family and any age of child.

Our children are truly a gift from the Lord and it takes His power and grace to raise them. This special time of commitment is usually offered at Rose Drive Friends Church three times a year. A parents' class, held the week before the dedication service, is necessary for those who have not previously attended the class here. If you are interested in dedicating your child, please contact Dean White, Children's Pastor, in the church office for details and to reserve your place in the next class. You will be notified when the next dedication is scheduled.
