Shirley - July 18
Background:
Howard and Shirley have been married 39 years and with Wycliffe the same amount of time. They went to Colombia South America in 1964 as Bible translators. The Lord led them out of translation and into support work after 2½ years. Howard served in about 10 different jobs, the last one for 10 years as the Technical Studies Supervisor. Shirley served in the school for missionary kids as a teacher and librarian for most of their time there. Their daughter Dawn was nine months old when they went to Colombia and Drew and Doug were born there during our first term. Among their many activities were being sponsors of the MK high schools, teaching Sunday School, Pioneer Girls, and Boys' Brigade.
The Lord led them back to the U.S. in 1984 to be part of Wycliffe's Counseling Ministries. Howard has been a counselor since then. For the last 15 years he has been the Director. His duties include counseling, training, teaching, consulting, trauma response, supervision, and administration. Shirley has led many women's small group Bible studies and met with individual women for discipleship and encouragement. In 2001 Howard decided to move from being Director of Counseling Ministries to the Associate Director position.
