This is a page about the SEND field in Poland and about the ministry setting.

Background:
A summer mission trip to Poland in 1989 confirmed Bruce's call to foreign missions. Linda's call came earlier in life during her college years. They pursued God's call to Eastern Europe separately as singles until they met at a missionary training program and soon realized that the Lord wanted them to minister together. As newlyweds, they moved to Warsaw, Poland in September 1995, where they studied the language and began their ministry.

The Cannons serve with SEND International, whose mission is to mobilize God's people and engage the unreached in order to establish reproducing churches. From 2000-2005 they co-labored with a Polish couple to establish Emmanuel Christian Fellowship in Wolow, Poland. This is the only evangelical witness for an area of 50,000 people. In august 2005 the Lord opened the door for them to move to a larger city to begin a new church. Since then they have been leading the newly established Regional Impact Team (RIT) in Opole, Poland, a provincial capital with a population of 130,000. Their primary focus has been to establish a reproducing church in Opole in partnership with a "mother" church (Second Baptist) in Wroclaw. The team includes three SEND families of multiple nationalities, as well as a Polish church planter and a young Polish family.

Over the last year (2008) two small home groups have multiplied to five. The young Polish church planter continues to grow into leadership and was ordained to pastoral ministry in June 2008. A church constitution was established and as a result elders were appointed to take on leadership responsibility for the church. The church is involved in various outreaches to business people, English-speaking Poles, and young adults. In addition to local ministry, Bruce was elected by our field to serve as the Area Director, giving oversight to 30+ missionaries from six different nationalities serving on seven teams in both Poland and the Czech Republic.

The Cannons have two sons. Aaron was born in Poland on August 7, 1996, and Zachary was born in New York on October 14, 1998. They both attend the Polish public school and have integrated well and excelled academically. Both boys enjoy many after-school activities including chess, soccer, and various academic clubs. Bruce and Linda also serve in many capacities in the boys' grade school, further deepening relationships with both teachers and parents.

As you think of Opole Baptist Church:
–Pray that God would bring a harvest as they build relationships through the English ministry.
–Pray that God would raise up leaders for His church and that He would guide the Cannons as they disciple them.
–Pray that the church would be able to take concrete steps toward reproducing and seeing other churches started.

As you think of the Cannons:
–Pray that their boys would continue to do well in school in spite of the ongoing challenge of learning in a second language and always feeling a bit "different." Pray for their growth spiritually and in godly character and witness as they are the only "believers" in their school.
–Pray for wisdom in parenting, ministry, and relationships.
–Pray for good health (physical and spiritual).

–Pray that in their field leadership role they can effectively lead and care for a diverse family of SEND missionaries in North Central Europe.
