Until further notice, we are pausing our on-campus worship services and will be live streaming only on Sundays. This change is in response to the increasing spread of COVID-19 and updated guidance from State health officials. The updated guidelines for in-person worship services now include a requirement for ‘no singing’ during services. This makes sense, from a health standpoint. Here is an excerpt from the guidance document:
Even with adherence to physical distancing, convening in a congregational setting of multiple different households … carries a relatively higher risk for widespread transmission of the COVID-19 virus, and may result in increased rates of infection, hospitalization, and death, especially among more vulnerable populations. In particular, activities such as singing and chanting negate the risk reduction achieved through six feet of physical distancing. *Places of worship must therefore discontinue singing and chanting activities…
We love to sing as an expression of praise to God. So, in order to be both good citizens and neighbors, and to have the best worship experience possible, we will continue to livestream our services on rdf.org/live and Facebook Live, but we will not meet Sundays on campus until further notice. This change is effective immediately, so I encourage you to make plans to tune in at 9 or 10:30 AM this Sunday.
