March 13, 2020
Hello Friends –
I wanted to send you an update on Rose Drive Friends Church’s response and our plans related to COVID-19. We, as a Staff, are taking very seriously the recommendations of our Health Department and our Governor to restrict gatherings of 250 people or more.
Starting this weekend, our Sunday worship service will be online only, through the end of March. We will be broadcasting live at 10:30 AM and invite you to join us for Church at Home at rdf.org/live. All other Sunday morning ministry gatherings are also being postponed. Although we will not be meeting on campus, I encourage you to gather together with friends and family to be a part of the service at rdf.org/live. This is a simple way that we can be together, even if it is online.
It is prudent and wise for us to take seriously the health of our church family. It is also important for us to be a part of our community’s response to help slow the spread and the impact of this very contagious virus. We are glad to do our part in this way, even though it is going to require us to be creative to find ways to be connected and stay together. Early next week, I will send out an update about what those plans will look like. Please pray along with us and be a part of our church community as we look to respond to anyone that we can in this situation.
Fear is a very real response to a health crisis like this. I want to encourage you, as your pastor, that through Jesus Christ we have the ability to know God, to trust God, and to experience from God a peace that passes all understanding. Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God. Trust also in me.” As a people, that’s the kind of faith we want to pursue. I want to encourage you today to trust God, take this health situation seriously, and not panic. These are actually great days for us to show the love and hope of God through Jesus Christ to our friends, coworkers and neighbors.
I’ll see you online for Church at Home at rdf.org/live Sunday morning at 10:30 AM!
God bless you,
