About This Ministry:
Work: John uses his technical skills to help pastors and Christian workers with various projects. He is also involved in evangelism and discipleship ministries. Julie teaches the children of missionaries in a small Christian school operated by the mission community in Mali.
Background: John and Julie are both natives to Southern California. Before his mission service, John worked for several years in the computer industry. Later, he founded and operated the Anaheim Visitor Center across from Disneyland. Julie holds a California teaching credential and has taught high school English in Christian schools for 18 years. In 2001, John and Julie received an unexpected prompting from the Holy Spirit and left their professional lives behind to enter overseas mission service in Africa.
Christian Background: John was raised in a Christian home and came to know the Lord at a young age. John led Julie to the Lord shortly before their marriage in 1989. Their relationships with Christ grew significantly in 2001 when they were first called into mission service.
Recent update from the Clarks:
“Thank you for actively praying for our recent request for an opportunity to minister to the UN in Mali. God has answered your prayers and we’re excited to announce our new ministry! We have have been granted permission to visit the base camp in Bamako on a weekly basis. We have located a small group of believers that have been meeting for prayer the past two years. They have been praying for a pastor to come and lead their group. How exciting to see God responding to our requests and their requests at the same time! We have been visiting the camp for the past 4 weeks. We are currently meeting on Friday afternoons from 12:45-1:45 pm. We have been meeting in a room that’s been designated specifically as a meeting place for Christians. This is pretty amazing considering how secular the UN operates. The size of the group fluctuates dramatically from week to week due to the nature of the UN mission and people being deployed and traveling for various reasons. The group has numbered anywhere from 5 to 11 people. We’re praying for opportunities to reach the other 16,989 that are part of the peacekeeping mission. It’s a challenging landscape to navigate, but we know the Lord has great plans. Thank you for your continuing prayer. You are a vital part of this new ministry. We look forward to sharing testimonies, stories and prayer requests as they come up.
