Scott and Andrea Sward have been serving as missionaries in Cambodia since September 2009. Prior to moving to Cambodia, they spent nine years ministering to Cambodia-Americans in Long Beach, CA, as members of Long Beach Friends Church.
The Swards are focused on strengthening churches in NW Cambodia, training leaders, reaching the unreached (less than 2% of Cambodians profess Jesus Christ as Lord), and developing Christian materials in Khmer.
Recent update and prayer request from the Swards:
“Finally, […] a request for prayer about the next pages in our Cambodia book. Two and a half years ago, we committed to spending two years in Battambang, with the purpose of supporting a very embattled congregation. Last fall, as we approached our two year mark, the government here began making some changes that have signifcantly impacted the expat community here (and please forgive my vagueness – communications are being more closely monitored as well, so we are trying to be circumspect in what we write). National elections will be held at the end of July. Our team decided we would not make any changes until after the elections. Throughout the course of the this year, we have all been in prayer, consideration, and conversation about where God would like to send us next. The situation here in Battambang has been stabilized, and our hearts are longing to go on to the unreached and under-resourced areas of Cambodia. We have been presented with two options we are seriously praying about (both in Eastern Cambodia). Would you please join us in praying for sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s guidance as we make this decision? As always, we are thankful for you, and thankful for your intercession on our behalf!
Praying God’s blessing on you today,
Andrea, for the Swards”
