We aspire to become a supportive church by responding to the needs of our local foster families, adoptive families, and parenting teens.
By clicking this link, you can sign up to serve foster families, adoptive families, and parenting teen families in our church. A member of our team will reach out to explain more about the opportunities while making sure that we’re a match!
Ways to volunteer:
Resource Team: The Resource Team shows love to foster, adoptive, and/or parenting teen families (without an ongoing obligation) by filling one-time requests for donations including diapers, formula, clothing, high chairs, car seats, etc. This team also helps resource our Foster Closet when needs arise.
Care Team: These teams of five to seven individuals care for families who are currently adopting or have adopted, fostering, or are parenting teen households in our church. Whether it’s to pray, provide a meal, babysit, arrange a date night, or just show love, God can use your gifts and talents to come alongside these families.
Family Coach: As a Family Coach, you would communicate regularly with an assigned foster, adoptive, and/or parenting teen family to assess their needs and then coordinate with the Care and Resource Teams to provide support where appropriate. These individuals make a major difference in the daily lives of foster, adoptive and parenting teen families in our church!
Foster Family: As a Foster Family, you would become licensed or certified by the Department of Children and Families or an approved licensed child-placing agency, for the temporary care of a child in your home. We will walk alongside you every step of the way! Please click HERE to be linked to our foster agency partner, Olive Crest, for additional resources.
Adoptive Family: Foster care adoption is the adoption of a child in foster care whose biological parents’ rights have been terminated by a court. The child may be adopted by either his or her foster parents or another adoptive family. If you would like to become an Adoptive Family, please click HERE to be linked to additional resources that outline the court process.
The Foster Closet:
Foster parents are invited to engage in a shopping experience at The Foster Closet!
Children in foster care are often placed into new homes with a limited amount of their personal belongings. The Foster Closet aims to assist foster families by providing essential items and serves as a resource where foster caregivers can obtain clothing, toys, diapers, and various other items they may require! Please contact us at fostercloset@rdf.org to schedule an appointment. The Foster Closet is located on the west side of the nursery building, facing the lunch tables and just north of the playground. We suggest parking in the Bastanchury parking lot.
The Foster Closet is available by appointment only. Please Click HERE to set up a time to come shop. Access to The Foster Closet is complimentary for current foster families.
Donations and Volunteer Information:

Partner Organizations:
Foster the City: (fosterthecity.org)
Every year, thousands of children are removed from their biological family because of abuse or neglect. These children deserve a loving home in their community where they can experience stability, love and hope for their future. The church is uniquely positioned and called to answer this need. Join a coalition of churches who provide loving homes and support for children in foster care with Foster the City.
YoungLives: (northocyounglives.com)
YoungLives is focused on building relationships with teen moms and dads by entering their world, modeling unconditional love, and encouraging them to become the men and women, and fathers and mothers, God created them to be.
